For The First Time in a Month…

How’s it going? Hope everyone had an awesome week. I did.

It’s Fabulous Fiction Friday here at Fiction and Copy Decoded, and that means a writing prompt for you.

With all the craziness about the tech aspects of the blog, I missed out on posting 4 or 5 of these prompts–or about a month of posting (all of June, at least).

Here’s the prompt for today:

You wake up one day and realize you’ve lost something. It’s no big deal—until other things start turning up missing, too. What started this chain of events, and where does it go from here?

A bit of a broad brushstroke, I gotta say. We could have:

A wise old woman who’s lost a shoe on a volcanic planet

A little boy who’s lost his dog that’s been sick for a long time

A cyborg missing a thumb who finds out his model kept a spare brain inside that appendage

Have some fun with it. Change up the pieces (character, setting, plot, conflict). And then keep going.

And then do the same with the genre (mystery, thriller, science fiction, fantasy, paranormal, or what-have-ya).

You could have a short story, novella, novel. Heck, you could even write an email (or a series of emails) about a made-up product you used to solve your “lost” problem.

We’re creeping toward the midway point of July, already. Wow. Then it’s August, then fall, then winter, and then 2014 is…

Never mind. I try to live one day at a time (there have been some days lately, that’s all I can do). Plan for the future, but live today, today.

I want to be inspired when I look ahead to the future, instead of…the opposite of inspired.

You can find previous prompts under the Fab Friday Prompts category.

If these prompts have impacted you in some way, or you’d like to drop me a writing-related line in the comments, feel free.

It’s Friday, too. So make it an awesome weekend, all right?

Until next time,

Ty
