Take 2 On The Wacky Edition of Triple F…

In this post, I said I’d be mining the wacky for Fabulous Fiction Friday, and I meant it.

I’m going to throw a weird sentence at you for today’s Triple F prompt. Something to tip the reservoir of your creative juice, so it spills into your consciousness, and the ideas overflow.

Write a story that contains this phrase:

She couldn’t figure out why it was upside down this time.

Can you feel the possibilities? And I won’t even mention female robots, aliens, or super-villains (other than that time just now).

All right, let’s start with the sorta obvious here…what’s “it”? Is it:

A car?

A mirror?

A house?

Or something smaller, like a piece of jewelry, or a vacuum (just going with the wacky angle here).

Okay, she figured out why “it” was upside down—but that was last time. What did she do to figure it out, and why didn’t that work this time?

And where is she? Where is this object? Heck, why does she even care? Is this thing just something she stumbled on in her travels? Or some object thrown on to the living room floor? Is this another time, or a different dimension?

Maybe her kitten cornered the dog’s chew toy, and got it into a tight spot? There’s always the “regular people doing regular things” angle too.

Take a deep breath. In. Out. There. Now pick one small idea, and go, go, go!

Remember to make it a great weekend, with happy memories.

Until next time,

About Ty Mall

Thanks for stopping by. I've almost always been interested in writing, among other things. Along with discovering pop culture, I've uncovered a lot about the craft over the past 10 years. And whether you're a fiction writer or email copywriter, I'm here to pass on what I've found out. And have a ton of fun in the process.
