How’s your week been? It’s Friday, and that means the Triple F fiction writing prompt for you.
I had a great week, a lot of which had to do with the awesome time I had over Thanksgiving last week (followed by a strange deflation feeling that has happened to me after coming back from a super-cool trip, or other awesome experience).
It’s a bit of a longing really—because I have to get back to “real life.”
Sometimes that adjusting is hard for me.
Has that ever happened to you? Drop me a comment, and let me know about it.
All right, let’s get to it. The one year anniversary of this blog (on Nov. 25th) kinda inspired this one.
Fabulous Fiction Friday for today is:
If you could go back in time, and tell yourself three things, what would they be?
Okay…what a list I could make. You can take this as nonfiction if you want to, and use it as inspiration to move forward, if you want.
But I’ll be taking the fiction angle.
Who is “you”? I know it sounded like you (or me if I were to do this one), but it doesn’t have to be…
How old are you when you go back? And how old is your younger self?
Where are you when you tell your younger self these things? Your basement? A friend’s house? A baseball game? And why?
How do you go back in time, and does this have an influence on the overall story? Wormhole? Tornado? Some scientific possibility you’ve done research on for this story?
Why does it matter that you go back at all? I know the original prompt made things philosophical, but what if there was some other reason (pears go extinct, zombies walk the earth, you end up bankrupt at 23 from a startup gone screwballish—just what IS it?)
Oh, back to the normal (or we’ll just have to approximate that one): What are the 3 things you tell yourself? What are they about?
Life in general?
You picked the wrong dog?
You want to prevent your own death, or of someone else?
An old enemy comes back from the dead, the break room, or wants to make your life miserable?
Or what-have-ya…especially things I didn’t mention that you think of once the ball is rolling.
All right, that does it for this Triple F. The first week of the last month of 2014 is almost done here.
Make it a great weekend, with great memories.
Until next time (or week),
