I’d say how was your weekend, but we’re still having the current week. Ha! But that’s the thing when the new year swings in mid-week. I hope you stayed safe and happy during any partying that went on. So, again:
Happy 2015 to everyone!
Last post, I talked about my plans for the blog going forward. To recap (and add a bit), here’s what I’d like to do:
Triple F every week (read below for more)
Posts on specific facets of fiction writing and copywriting
Posts about my life, and how I relate life events to the craft of writing fiction, emails, and other kinds of persuasive writing
Remember to invite readers (you) to comment on the posts—it’s something I need to do more consistently
As far as the non-blog part of my writing and life, I want to:
Dig more into editing my own work, as well as clients’
Submit more fiction to online magazines (I want to top the 26 submissions I had in 2014)
Take on more copywriting work for current clients, and find new ones
To do that, I’ll have to find more markets to submit my already-written-and-revised fiction, learn how to target my writing better, and write more new fiction to submit to markets I’ve already picked out.
I’ll also continue prospecting for clients who need persuasive writing (like web pages, emails, video sales letters) and content (like blog posts), and other writing they need, but don’t have time to do themselves.
And I’ve heard enough stories about people dropping off on resolutions soon after New Year’s, so I don’t make those. I try to do goals (which remind me of pizza), instead.
I’m thinking about writing a post on a funny movie I saw a couple of weeks ago. Thing is, it’s more than 70 years old, and was in black and white. Those movies are funny, but in a different way than modern movies.
And I’d like to follow that post with one about a guy who I consider to be a happy-go-lucky fur trader (of sorts, if I did my research correctly).
Anyway, make sure to swing by.
And if you’d like to share your writing goals for 2015 in the comments, feel free. I’d like to hear your thoughts. More submissions (fiction or nonfiction)? More blogging? Less? Are you working on shorter pieces, like poetry, or a book?
Tomorrow is Fabulous Fiction Friday (aka Triple F), and a new writing prompt.
Until next time,
