How’s your week been? I’ve been, um, working. Anyway, the inspiration for this week’s Triple F was actually a shopping trip that fell through. But I’m still going to do the prompt now, that I would have done, with the inspiration from that trip.
So, for Fabulous Fiction Friday, here’s what we’ve got:
You’re in your favorite restaurant, and something totally unexpected happens. What happens next?
Now the fun part. Fiction!
All right, I know I said “you,” but feel free to use a character on this instead. Pick a gender (or use your own, if it’s you) and then a restaurant (whether yours or not).
Now, a pivotal part of this prompt is deciding where/what/why the unexpected event comes from.
Does somebody drop a platter of fries directly into the character’s lap? That’s internal, or inside the restaurant.
If some boyfriend dashes into the restaurant to propose to his girl over coffee and doughnuts, that’s external.
And it’s up to you.
How about the more science-fictiony suggestions?
Geeky smart girl dashes into the restaurant to proclaim she can end world hunger, and her group of friends (one of whom is the main character) were expecting her to fail? Or to succeed, and not unintentionally embarrass them in public? Why would she do that? Or why wouldn’t she? Because who wouldn’t want to see a food-multiplication serum in action?
Or maybe a dog bites someone’s shoe because it smells like waffles, and hilarity ensues, because some totally embarrassing chain reaction occurs. Internal to the restaurant, or not–that could go both ways. And then the dog really isn’t a dog at all, it’s…something else you’ll have to come up with.
Is the character near the entrance to the restaurant or not? We could have some ceiling drop-downs with secret agent overtones, if need be.
Or you could have something normal happen, like a meeting with an old friend the character hasn’t seen in 10 years, or what-have-ya.
All right, that’s about it. Enough to get started.
This is the second week of June, and it’s going great for me, considering the schedule (I prefer to put in more work at the beginning and middle of a project to ensure a light ending, by the way).
Make it an awesome weekend, with good memories, all right?
Until next time (and week),
