Hope you’ve had a great week so far.
Today is Friday, and that means the weekly fiction prompt. And “Crossword Clues” means just that–the Sunday paper is the source for all these (although yours may be different than mine, I don’t know).
Okay, your Fabulous Fiction Friday prompt for this week is:
Across: Firm understanding (5 letters)
Down: Tot’s wheels (8 letters)
These clues don’t intersect at all, in this puzzle.
Now here’s the fun part, using them in some fiction. My answers for these clues are “grasp” and “tricycle.” That’s what we’ll be going on for the following story ideas.
If we want to get science fiction inspired, we can have a tricycle that wheels around grabbing things (the bike pump, oil cans, people’s pants). All it wants to do is be cared for, for heaven’s sake, but the poor thing can’t talk at all. That’s a pretty neat one.
We can have a grasp on how to grasp, but that’s more of a science fiction/fantasy element (I’m thinking of something like exploring someone’s body from the inside after people are shrunk to fit in there–but I think The Twilight Zone already did something similar).
Or we can have a normal story with a child riding the trike places, and grasping things as he wheels by (think of the messes he or she could make). And yes, there’s a place in fiction for normal people and the everyday. Even I have to admit that from time to time.
Or maybe we can have a sci-fi trike again, only this time it does learn how to communicate with the humans…what could happen then? Would it teach other bigger bikes? Where could you take it from there?
All right, that’s enough ideas for today.
August 2015 is officially underway. Things have been running smoothly for me, and hope they have been for you, too.
Make it an awesome weekend, with great memories, all right?
Until next time (and week),
