Hope your week’s been great so far (after all, it IS almost over).
Let’s get to it.
Today is the writing prompt, aka Triple F, aka Fabulous Fiction Friday, an exercise for the brain, general coolness, and what-have-ya.
Since I was able to get crosswords (take a look here if you’d like to know what that means for you as a writer), I decided to stick with that motif.
So, your Triple F prompt for today starts:
Across: Mount Fuji locale (5 letters)
Down: Chickens’ place (4 letters)
These clues don’t intersect at all (and from Across Clue 1 in this puzzle, I can say the Down clue I’ve done here starts with C).
Now what happens?
Offhand, I’d say some fiction writing and brainstorming.
Okay, my answers for these are “Japan” and “coop.” I was going to do another clue, but I didn’t think we could do much with the abbreviation IOC, which is the committee that runs the Summer Olympics.
Japan and coop. Okay. There’s two words that suggest a setting. No plot or character to speak of (although Japanese characters and chickens could be suggested here).
A chicken coop full of robot chickens? Why robots? What could go wrong here? Chicken wants oil? Do they drive the farmer nuts with their squeaky joints?
What if a bunch of normal chickens descend on Japan and all the people leave? Why would they do that? They’re just chickens–unless they’re not (I’ve been watching a little too much Zoo–which is the animal-gone-nuts show based on the Patterson book. Can you tell?)
What if Japanese people decided to outlaw chicken coops and replace them with invisible force fields? Why would they want to do that? Is there something that’s made that a viable alternative, or an only alternative based on circumstances?
Or how about a chicken who’s fed up with laying eggs all day? What could she do to get out of it (there, finally one with a character instead of only a plot)?
Of course, it’s up to you to come up with the rest of the details.
All right, that’s enough to get started.
August is about halfway over now. Do your best to make the most of it, and I’ll try to do the same. Only so much life (and summer of 2015), to live, you know?
And make it an awesome weekend, with good memories, all right?
Until next time and week,
