How was your week? Mine was good. I’ve just about got the new software/interface I have to use for work stuff all ironed out, so that’s nice.
I wrote a lot about goals and figuring out what matters in life (especially over here). So I thought I would take that as a jumping-off point for Triple F.
So, your writing prompt for this week is:
Your character finds a strange pen, and figures out that whatever they write with it has to be done. What happens now?
Okay, we’ve got no gender, no setting, almost no plot to work with. Basically we have one thing that’s a teeny part of the background–a pen. And we’ve got so many different directions we could go with this.
A guy figures out this is a great way to accomplish his goals? Or what if he figures out how to structure the sentences he writes–instead of saying “interview at 8 on Tuesday” he writes something like “ace the interview at 8 on Tuesday” or “land the job from the interview on Tuesday”? (This could be the subject for another post on inspiration and motivation–sometime later).
Or a girl uses the pen to accomplish her goals, but also finds out that it works for others, so she starts writing things like “Make sure Mike takes out the trash.”
We could also have a traveler from the future travel in time to get his pen back and prevent some kind of cataclysm as the world and fabric of time are ripped apart because too many people are using the pen.
And the final twist–what happens if the pen runs out of ink, or stops writing mid-sentence, or mid-word?
That’s about enough ideas to get you up and running, I figure. Have some fun with it.
We’re closing in on the halfway point for March 2016.
Make it a great weekend, with good memories, all right?
Until next time (and week),
