How was your week? Mine was nice–I got some time to relax and work on other projects, which I really enjoyed.
Since this is me, I have to put a bit of a twist on it. I decided to go general. Your prompt for this week is:
Your character is in a fancy restaurant, and something happens to embarrass them…
You’d have to launch the character gender, backstory, and what-have-ya, because all we’ve got is one plot point and a setting. That launch would include what makes the restaurant fancy, and what the embarrassing thing is.
What if a dude is allergic to flowers on the table, and he starts sneezing in front of a girl he was hoping to impress? Or accidentally reaches for the waiter’s sleeve to dab his eyes, because he can’t see too well? How would he salvage the evening? Would the girl give him a chance to salvage the evening? How would she react? What would the waiter think? Did the guy accidentally run out of allergy meds when he thought he had two or three more?
What if a time-traveling alien being gets a rip in her disguise because a guy’s dog thinks she smells just like his favorite rubber chew toy? I didn’t think she’d come to Earth for a bad reason, but why is she here? What does the guy do? Is he oblivious? Is she so afraid of being discovered and having her past catch up to her that she inadvertently draws attention to herself? Or maybe she’s outside with her date, and some other guy walks his dog by the restaurant, and now she has to deal with two guys and a bunch of other people…
(I couldn’t have all of my examples on this one being regular people doing regular things).
That’s enough to get the snowball sliding down the hill, so to speak.
We can only rock May 2016 for about four more days.
Make it a great weekend with good memories, all right?
Until next time (and week),
