How’s your week been so far? I’ve had fun using the new washer (does that sound weird?) and remembering some things about the Missouri trip this year (one of them is Hey Girls, I Got Some Candy for Ya). A buddy of mine who did the candy thing was amused by it, of course.
Anyway, let’s get to it.
Today is Friday. Fabulous Fiction Friday, Triple F, the prompt, or what-have-ya. And since I nearly always take inspiration from that week’s past post, my own life, or both to come up with these, I think for this week, we’ll go with:
Your characters give out something different to show appreciation for someone, or to show attraction or be nice.
I was thinking of unusual things here–something that ain’t flowers, candy, or other food. This is where pieces of the setting and character can play a part. Something like…
A guy really likes a girl, and so Brent decides to give Mandy his lung? Wait…what? If he likes someone–? What the heck is wrong with him? Is mild attraction the least of this dude’s problems? You’d think so, but what if he’s been genetically modified? Or what if he’s been raised by aliens to regrow his organs (even though he’s human), and everything grows back in a few hours? Does she need a transplant? Or does Mandy think it’s weird? Does Brent wait til they get to an operating table or just up and pop open his ribs to fetch the gift?
She might be so disgusted she just runs off. You’d also have to build into Brent’s character sketch why he thinks this would be the thing to do (a little like a sci-fi Blast from the Past–that movie with Brendan Fraser and some woman and something like 25 years underground–I’ll let you go dig it up).
Or we could have a girl want to be friends with another girl…so she gives her a car. Okay, okay…sometimes people do that, so this is normal people doing normal things. What if the car is a prototype with a washing machine in the back? Or it has a special chamber inside that’s like one of those hyperbaric things that oxygenates your whole body?
All right, that’s enough to get the mental snowball rolling down the hill. Have some fun with this.
November 2016 is a bit over halfway gone.
Make it a great weekend, with good memories, all right?
Until next time (and week),
