I’ll make this Triple F like greased lightning, but first…
Today is the 3 year anniversary of Fiction and Copy Decoded! This is actually post number 422. Wow, I’m a little amazed I’ve been writing on and on for that long…
All right, awesome. Thanks to you all for reading, commenting, and following.
Let’s get to the rest of today.
Every Friday is Fabulous Fiction Friday, with a prompt. So third anniversary of this blog + Black Friday + Thanksgiving + being thankful/grateful =
In your character’s world, Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday are the only days anything is on sale…
Not a lot of specifics here, which equals flexibility in my book.
Okay, you could go with exploring why things are the way they are in this world, and what caused it. Or having people be conflicted about family and shopping (oops, too real life…I’ll be backing off that one). Or something like:
Denny is really surprised that clothes are so expensive in his world, and wonders why. He’s got a good tech job and has to wear a blanket like a cape because a good suit costs a year’s pay. What is that pay, and why are things like that?
Or you could go with something else, like:
Ellen is an ad exec and realizes people could make a lot more dough by having sales more than twice a year, even though a galaxy-wide two day sale results in 90% of the revenue to the suppliers…
All right. That’s enough to get the mental snowball down the hill. Granted, the whole situation of a two-day sale and ONLY a two-day sale is a bit silly (unless people have nowhere else to shop).
The last full week of November is just about up.
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving, and that you make it a great weekend with good memories, all right?
Until next time (and week),
