How’s your week been so far? It’s almost the weekend…I know. And I never thought of telling you about my phone adding stuff to itself–not really anyway. And now that I think about it some more, that seems like a great jumping-off point for Triple F.
This week’s prompt for Fabulous Fiction Friday is:
Your character is working with a piece of technology that deletes things from their life instead of adding them.
Now the fun stuff. You’ll have to get things going about who this character is, with their gender, backstory, and what-have-ya, on top of figuring out what the object is that deletes things, and what those deleted things are (not to mention how the character copes with all of this stuff).
How about we take it scientific? Goes a little like this:
Julie invents a pen, that whatever she points it at and pushes the button, that thing disappears from her life. She can’t tell where they’ve gone. And to make matters worse, sometimes they get replaced by different things. What if the cat is batting the pen around and points it at the dog, or a child? What happens now? How would Julie make it right? Would she have to travel to a different dimension? Or maybe an alien realm where all their stuff has been disappearing, too. And it just so happens their lead scientist is a human who was transported there by accident. Maybe it’s Julie’s brother, who went missing a long time ago and was never found. How will the siblings work it out?
Or maybe Barry the construction foreman drops his clipboard, and finds out whatever it lands on disappears–whole desks have gone down in the effort. Why is this happening, and how does he explain it so he can keep his job? Is it time for a little demo for the Big Boss?
All right. That’s enough to get the mental snowball rolling down the hill.
December’s about halfway over, and then it’s you-know-when (I’m still trying to come to grips, just a little bit).
Make it an awesome weekend, with good memories, all right?
Until next time (and week),
