Triple F: Characters Losing Their Grip on Get Good?

How’s your week been so far? I actually have a bit of a client consult today (we’ll see how that goes), and I’ve launched a fiction video prompt that I plan to make exclusive to Instagram if/when I launch more (head on over to @fictionandcopydecoded to check it out).

Let’s get to it. Triple F will still be here, though, and since it’s Friday, here we are.

A lot of things have been swirling in my head with all the talk I’ve been doing about gaming, mastery, and marketing this week, and relating that to writing here and over this way.

I thought I’d stay away from turning a character’s life into a video game, since fiction characters already don’t exist, if you catch my drift on that deal. So how about for this week’s Fabulous Fiction Friday, we give this a shot:

Your character’s a master at something but loses that mastery for a mysterious reason.

Now the fiction–I was hoping to cut out downer ideas like disease and old age and what-have-ya (for some people, awful things happen that make it so they’re not very old before they get un-good at what they were good at).

Here we go:

Scott is the world’s best spaceship mechanic. Why is he suddenly forgetting things? He’s in good shape and whatnot. Does it have to do with his beautiful but deadly passenger, Marzette, who feeds off the skills and memories of those in close proximity, even though she can’t help it? Did she stow away? Why? And if he does know about her, was he just told she was an intergalactic princess who needed a space taxi?

Cindy is losing her ability to weave the threads of time…why? How did she get to where she could do that in the first place, and why is it important? Is she being blocked by someone who wants to steal from her, or what?

All right, that’s enough to get the mental snowball down the hill.

January of 2017 is about a week and a half from going bye-bye.

Make it a great weekend, with good memories, all right?

Until next time (and week),

Ty
