How was your weekend? Mine was interesting, mostly because I didn’t go after crosswords and comics this week. Which is okay–I have plenty of material to draw from already if I need to.
I’m also putting the finishing touches on some emails that I’m working on for a client who runs a small video production company. I hope they convert well because it’s a lot easier to suggest more work and get a stellar testimonial that way, for sure.
Anyway, let’s get to it for today. I’d like to talk about something I don’t really do a lot, and that’s the end of the month.
Today is the last day of January 2017. It’s not too often I get to chat with you on the last day of the month, or the first day of a new one (which I hope to do tomorrow).
How did it go for you? I got a new client, and I’m in talks with a second one–some months I’m buried by work and working on my own stuff, so that doesn’t really happen (and I’m trying to shift into working on my own stuff no matter what else I have going on).
I’m also blogging for another website (other than this one, of course).
So along with trying to balance out my own stuff, I guess I do have to get a writing tip or two in here for fiction writers and copywriters…tis the purpose, mostly (although there are things in here you can pull out, for sure).
If you think of your life as a sea of little dots, and your days and actions as connecting them, only to find out that the dots in your life are actually other people and places, that might help (and be a good fiction prompt–I don’t know, you’d have to fill in the blanks there).
As a copywriter especially, and I’m working on this too, you have to keep moving forward–prospecting, interviewing, and what-have-ya, even if the answer is “no/not right now” (like the rejection I got from a company I wanted to help write sales letters for–and it still hurts after all these years. But now it’s a medium disappointment instead of an “everything you write stinks” sorta deal).
I hope January was super-awesome for you too, and if you’d like to drop me a line in the comments and tell me, feel free.
And if wasn’t so good, I’d like to encourage you to make tomorrow a better day and month. Because tomorrow, if we do get it, is the time for us all to start over if we need to.
Until next time,
