Triple F: Lights, Camera…Character?

How’s your week been? Mine’s been a bit weird. Tuesday this week was nice, and then Wednesday it snowed something like a couple inches.

Yes, it’s still officially winter. Way to remind me there.

An idea slapped me for the middle grade fiction contest I plan on entering, so I’ll be working on that as soon as this is done.

Anyway, let’s get to it.

Today’s Triple F, and that means a prompt for you. And with all this Super Bowl ad stuff I’ve been throwing around, I thought I’d…you know.

So for this week’s Fabulous Fiction Friday, it’s:

Your character’s in a TV commercial. What does it say about them?

If they agree to do it (which they should), and the script lines up with who they are, that is.

And then you can weave in a bit of backstory, too.

Something like:

Kristen really loves cars, so you put her in a car commercial. But you make it funny, so that she accidentally trips and spills a drink, only to find out that some guy who owns a clothing store needs stain removal (and Kristen is excellent at cleaning too)…

Rob loves to cook, and you put him in a kitchen, but things go awry because he’s unorganized…don’t know what you’d promote there, but maybe you could have him learn something new and get things straightened out.

All right, that’s enough to get the mental snowball rolling down the hill.

February’s just about halfway out of here.

Make it an awesome weekend, with good memories, all right?

Until next time (and week),

About Ty Mall

Thanks for stopping by. I've almost always been interested in writing, among other things. Along with discovering pop culture, I've uncovered a lot about the craft over the past 10 years. And whether you're a fiction writer or email copywriter, I'm here to pass on what I've found out. And have a ton of fun in the process.
