How’s your week been so far? Mine’s been interesting–still missing about half or so of my voice, and I’m trying to keep up on current writing projects and what-have-ya.
Anyway, let’s get to it.
Today is Friday, and that means Triple F, and a prompt for you. I’ve been coughing lately–and I mean a lot. And being loud. Sometimes, I wonder what the siding guys think if they hear me coughing up a storm, not that I can do anything about it.
So I figured I would use that, because why not, you know? So for today, your Fabulous Fiction Friday prompt is:
Your character coughs and something happens.
All right, one teeny piece of happenstance is all we’ve got here. No gender, backstory, or any other important stuff–that’ll be up to you to get that in there.
I wasn’t trying to go for regular people doing regular things here (because 99% of humanity has coughed before, and knows what happens, or what can happen), but if you wanted to do that, go ahead.
Just keep your boxes of tissues and waste baskets over there where I can’t see. That way if your character misses a throw, I can’t be hit by it.
I was thinking more along the lines of:
Spencer coughs really hard, and rips the space-time continuum. An old woman steps out of the breach, telling him she heard his signal, and that they need to get ready to avert the upcoming war between the Fae and Novus factions.
You know, stuff nobody would ever think would happen because of a little sniffle and suchlike.
Or maybe it’s Layla who’s coughing in her living room…and blows the TV out the back wall of her house. Why on earth would she do that? Maybe she’s reached the age of ascension, and she’s set to become a hero–someone powerful enough to save humanity from some clear and present danger…or other.
(Man alive, this not-talking-so-much thing has started to get me worried–I could be waxing poetic at random.)
That’s enough to get the mental snowball rolling down the hill.
October 2017 is just about over–next Wednesday is November 1st.
Make it a great weekend, with good memories, all right?
Until next time (and week),
