How was your weekend? Mine was pretty much the usual, although I did get some mowing done (it’d been about a month, and the siding guys weren’t going to be here this week, because they have to move on to another gig, temporarily). Which is actually what I’d like to talk about a little bit.
Let’s get to it.
So for the last several weeks, (before I left for the Missouri trip), about 4 guys have shown up every day to work on the house and siding (and sometimes a day or two on the weekend).
And now, for the first time since, they’re not going to be here for a long stretch…which will be a little weird, because maybe I’ve gotten used to the sound of hammering, sawing, and music I’d never heard before.
They’ve been here putting insulation up, and getting the siding done. They’ve also built awnings for the front and back porches, and even did some landscaping-esque cleanup.
Maybe I miss it? I don’t know. I mean eventually they’ll be done and have to move on.
Another factoid here is that the leader of the four guys said they didn’t expect to be here that long. One, because they didn’t know there was nothing underneath the original siding to nail anything on to (just flimsy cardboard-like stuff they had to rip out, and then that was it). Not to mention a couple pieces of rotten wood they found that had to be replaced.
But the most interesting reason was that the crew wasn’t usually four guys.
It was ten. But the others were off on another gig.
Writers have little things too, especially details about products or services they’re promoting, or characters in their stories. And some of those details don’t make it into the email, sales letter, story at hand, or what-have-ya.
But some do.
Until next time,
